2014 Acura ILX Overview

Is the 2014 Acura ILX a Good Used Car?
Yes, the 2014 Acura ILX is a good used car. It has numerous standard features, an upmarket interior, and relaxed performance for daily driving. The ILX also earns an exceptional reliability rating and above-average fuel economy estimates.

Used 2014 Acura ILX Performance and Interior
The ILX’s base powertrain consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. The duo is adequate for daily driving around town, but it feels overwhelmed when going uphill. A more powerful 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is available, and it’s paired with a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission. An automatic transmission is not available with the 2.4-liter engine. With the base powertrain, the ILX gets up to 24 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, which is above average for a luxury small car. For even better fuel economy, check out the ILX Hybrid.

The ILX’s upscale cabin has high-end materials and excellent fit and finish. Still, since it is an entry-level model, it isn’t quite as luxurious inside as pricier luxury small cars. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat come standard in every model. You have to pay more for leather or heated seats in most rivals. Most adults, aside from those who are especially tall, will fit comfortably in the front seats. The rear seats have an adequate amount of space. There’s a full set of LATCH child-seat connectors on each of the rear outboard seats, along with an additional upper tether anchor over the rear middle seat.

Every ILX model comes standard with dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a power moonroof, a 5-inch infotainment display, and a seven-speaker stereo. A 10-speaker ELS surround sound system, Bluetooth audio streaming, a USB port, and navigation are available. The display’s graphics look a bit dated, and the physical controls for adjusting climate settings are low on the center stack and hard to reach.

At just over 12 cubic feet, the ILX’s trunk is smaller than those found in most competitors. Instead of a split-folding seatback, the rear seats fold down as one piece. This gives you little flexibility in carrying a mixture of passengers and cargo.

Used 2014 Acura ILX Hybrid Prices
Prices for the used 2014 Acura ILX start around $15,000 for the base model and go up to about $18,000 for a model with the Technology package. Vehicle condition, mileage, and location can all impact pricing.

How Reliable Is the 2014 Acura ILX?
The 2014 Acura ILX has one of the best reliability scores in the luxury small car class: a 4.5 out of five. That’s better than the score of nearly every other vehicle on the market.

How Safe Is the 2014 Acura ILX?
The 2014 Acura ILX performed well in crash tests, earning a perfect five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the front and rollover tests. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests, the ILX earned the highest rating of Good in every category tested. A standard rearview camera is the only safety feature available in the 2014 Acura ILX.
